from those whose walk is blameless."

Fever with No Apparent Cause

Hutton had a low grade temp all last week. Initially I wasn't concerned because he is also cutting one of his top teeth and I attributed it to that. On Friday he started pulling at his ears, so I immediately thought, "Oh no! Another ear infection." We took him first thing Saturday morning to the doctor. Much to my surprise, his ears were perfect, but his throat was really red! Dr. said he had a viral throat infection and he just needed tylenol, rest, and a few days to get back to his normal self.

We stayed in the majority of the weekend and Grandma, Craig's mom, arrived last night to stay for the week. This morning Hutton woke up in his normal fashion, although I noticed he was abnormally warm. I took his temperature and it was nearly 102. Immediately, I took him to the doctor because he has never had a temperature that high. Again, ears still looked great and throat looked better. The performed a Flu test but it came back negative. Dr. said his body is fighting of some kind of infection and just needs rest.

I have to admit it's a little frustrating to not have a definite answer and also to have paid two $35 copays. I'm glad that he doesn't have the flu or an ear infection, but just wish there was something we could pin point. After several doses of tylenol, his fever still hasn't gone down. I'm going to watch him over the next couple of days and then reevaluate. Any comments or encouragement is welcomed. Poor little guy looks so sad! We are leaving for Kentucky on Friday so pray that he is better by then!

Daylight Savings...A Huge Thumbs Up!!

Ever since the time changed last weekend, the Howard home is thoroughly enjoying the new schedule! Hutton has decided that since it stays dark longer, he'd like to sleep laster! Yes, he is sleeping until 8:15am!!! Talk about a miracle for mama! The last two mornings I have woken up refreshed because of wonderful sleep! It truly has been such a blessing! Now, if we could only keep this routine up for a few months! Haha! What's even more surprising is that he is cutting a front, top tooth and sleeping so great! The last time he cut teeth, it was a nightmare for all of us! Oh well, I'll take it!

Hutton still isn't crawling. He gets in position, looks like he's about to just go for it, and then falls on his belly and starts rolling. I have to admit, I'm okay with this for now. I'm not rushing anything because I know the moment he starts moving, I will have a hard time trying to keep up! The picture at the top of this post shows Hutton's new haircut. Yes, he's had three haircuts already! It grows so fast and gets in his eyes and ears! Got to keep him looking handsome! Haha!

The St. Patricks Day Parade on Beale Street was a blast! At first, Hutton had a hard time adjusting to all the people and loud music, but by the end of it he was laughing and excited! I was surprised at how many people were actually there for the parade! It was nice to get outside like that on such a gorgeous day! The weather is supposed to drastically improve starting tomorrow! Temperatures are anticipated to be in the high 70's for the next week which is awesome!! We are scheduled to do Hutton's "Sit and Smile" pictures Monday morning and the weather is supposed to be perfect! Can't wait!

Here are some more fun pictures of baby boy! The one of him standing at the door is what he does every day while waiting on Daddy to come home from work! He gets soooo excited to see Craig's truck pull up in the driveway! Such a sweet memory I'll hold on to forever!

9 Month Update

Yes, it's hard to believe that Hutton is already 9 months young!!! I have to admit that this has been the fastest 9 months of my life but definitely the most blessed! At this point, still no crawling! He will get in the position and look like he's going to just take off and then just falls on his belly and starts rolling! However, he does try to pull himself to stand on everything and our pediatrician says that's a more accurate milestone crawling. Who knows?!? He'll probably be one to just skip crawling all together.

Hutton loves to jump! Not just in a jumper, but anytime I'm sitting and holding him, he loves to just bounce on me. When I leave him childcare during Bible study or at the gym, all the ladies tell me that he's a bouncer and that couldn't be more true. A friend of ours is letting us borrow their doorway jumper, as of yesterday, so we'll see how he likes that!

You know that travel and visitors are always part of our calendar. Two weeks ago we got to spend the weekend in Nashville because Aunt B was in a wedding there. It was great spending time with her, but it was an exhausting weekend for Craig and I. We stayed in a hotel in Brentwood where apparently the entire Marshall University baseball team was staying and yes, they were on our floor, right across the hall. Umm...Not a good fit, let me just say that. As the loud, drunken heavy hitters and their groupies were running up and down the hallways screaming, I spent the night trying to console my screaming, sleepless child. He was sleeping so good until the commotion started! Words can't describe the frustration I felt in that moment. The next morning, after another incident, we opted to switch rooms. Needless to say, they lost their game that day, which I didn't feel bad about. I was just extremely disappointed in how disrespectful these guys were and surprised by the fact that they were allowed to go clubbing the night before a game. Guess that officially makes me an old grumpy parent. Haha!

Last weekend I surprised Craig by inviting all of his best friends and their wives to come to Memphis. He was floored when they all showed up to surprise him at his office! January was kind of a discouraging month for Craig and I wanted to do something to perk him up and I knew just the guys to do it! It was so refreshing to spend time with close friends that encourage us more than words can say! Thanks guys for making the drive! It was a blast!

Tomorrow we are riding in the St. Patrick's Day parade here in Memphis on a float! Craig joined something called a "Krewe" here in Memphis and we are in the Ptolemy chapter so we will be riding a float to represent them. Should be fun! I'll let you know! Other than that, things are quiet in the Memphis front for the next couple of weeks! Here are some pictures of our growing boy!

Baba

How do I resist this adorable face? I love his facial expression when saying "baba." Enjoy!

Rocking Horse Nightmares

At one of my baby showers before Hutton arrived, a dear friend of mine gave me a rocking horse that used to be in her sons nursery. (See photo above!) If you've seen pictures of Hutton's nursery, you know that it sits by his crib and looks absolutely adorable. (See photo at the end of this post!) Well, last week, Hutton and I were playing in his room and reading books when I decided it would be a good idea to try to sit Hutton on the horse, as I'm holding him of course! As soon as I try to put him on it, he PANICS!! I don't mean he cried...I mean he SCREAMED at the top of his lungs! Now every time we are in his room, I always catch him glancing at it, but the moment we go near it to try to pet it or anything he FREAKS! Since then, I've noticed he does the same thing with certain stuffed animals! What the heck? Not sure where this is coming from but the poor little boy is scared of fake animals!
